Go red even with the holidays

Hi there everyone just wanted to say I had my interview on B105 today, it wasn't @ 7:10 but instead 8:10 ( mix up on who was suppose to call who for the interview sorry for those of u who missed it. And for those of u who dont know me I am NOT a morning person and believe it or not I was actually up on time and ready to go @ 6:30 but with the mix up it was an hour later . Oh well but I do have to say I was proud of myself for being ready on time. From what people have told me i sounded and did great. Which was a relief because I was so nervous and worried how I would do.
Also I was suppose to meet with Brenda my dietitian this past Tuesday but do to her sick child we weren't able to so were rescheduled to this Monday i' m very excited and nervous at the same time. Excited to see what she has to say about how my meter for my blood sugars has been reading ( they are still high sometimes when I check them. But maybe when we look @ my food log and stuff we can get this figured out. And nervous because some days I just can't eat my 3 meals and 3 snacks like she wants me to I just get busy and time flys by and then before u know it it's time for your next meal and snack was forgotten. Oops sorry Brenda I promise to work harder on this. But atleast I'm keeping a detailed food log. Still haven't meet with or even heard from my gym, but talked to Ron yesterday and he is looking into this for me as I should have heard already according to him. While I hope everyone has great holidays and has will power during this time I'm cheering for everyone of us. I have to go and take care of my poor little girls who is sick with that icky stomach bug and vomiting. Oh yes merry Christmas right. Lol
So take care everyone and talk to u soon. Lisa

Blogging 101

hi there everyone. I'm trying to get this whole blogging thing down and really don't understand most of it hoping I can find some of my go red ladies to help me or just someone. I kinda feel like an out caster and like I'm not getting the whole benefit of this. I don't even know how to follow my other 7 ladies in my go red challenge with me and see how everyone else is doing. So if anyone is willing to help me with this blogging 101 soon please let me know I would greatly appreciate it. Have a great night n hope everyone is doing good. It's going pretty good here following the dietitians eating plan as it's pretty strict and checking blood sugars regularly which are still running high at night. Have follow up Tuesday to go over food log and blood sugars so very anxious to see what these mean. Still haven't heard about my gym membership or trainer yet hoping soon as I want to start to see if my numbers change and can get my metabolic syndrome and high cholesterol under control. Also follow up with carol marsh in about 6 weeks to see where there at. But of course no gym means no working out yet so numbers Probably not coming down like I'd like yet. Also for those of u who are following me or this challenge I have an interview with the radio on B105 Thursday December 23rd @ 7:10am for the Go Red Challenge we are taking and every Thursday after that, same time the other ladies in the challenge will have individual interviews on the following Thursdays 1 participants per Thursday . Take care all my ladies and can't wait to see everyone hopefully sometime soon.

My story and why I applied for the Go Red For Women Heart Health Challenge

Why I applied and needed the Go Red For Women Challenge
OK so many of u r probably wondering why a 32 year old would need the go red challenge? While here's my story. I'm a smoker and started having high cholesterol about 1 1/2 years ago and was being followed by an Endocrinologist and also found out my vitamin D level was low. So after trying to lower cholesterol with diet and exercise and no success the Dr. Put me on a low dose of a statin medication and also a high dose of Vitamin D. While the vitamin D fluctuates my cholesterol still remained high so I had to go up dosage on my statin medication and am waiting to see if this and the challenge help me. When I started the challenge and had my first labs drawn I found out my cholesterol's are still high and now I have metabolic syndrome which is pre diabetes. This was very scary and a real eye opener so I have to follow strict diet and eating less more often which isn't easy but I am working on it and logging it I also have to check blood sugars and see my dietitian every week. So this is why I NEED this challenge and lifestyle change not only for me but my kids and husband so I can be a better role model. I do plan to try and quit smoking after I get to gym and take exercise as my new but healthy habit instead. So please follow me in this journey and help me along the way as I'm in this 110% . Also I want to thank all on the committee for giving me this opportunity and helping me and the other 7 challengers along the way thanks so much you'll never know how much this means to me. I promise to keep everyone updated and also share the tips I learn along the way. Thanks Lisa.

New beginning

Hi there everyone. I'm so excited for this new beginning for all of us and the BIG go red challenge. Haven't received gym info yet and patiently waiting I do have to admit it's killing me though as I can't wait to begin working out. I know this will be a huge challenge as I don't exercise and am so out of shape but I'm really feeling giddy and so excited to begin. And yes we went to the grocery store tonight and looking at a lot of labels now a days, it sure is more expensive to eat healthier but I know in the long run will be well worth it. Sorry I can't post as often as others because I have limited Internet access,so hope to post more tomorrow and good luck my red friends hope others are doing and feeling ok .Kudos to us all on the journey ahead.
